The story behind the image
Oudtshorn is the center of the Ostrich industry in South Africa. While you stay there make sure to visit one of the Ostrich show farms in the surroundings. We decided to visit the Highgate farm to see the birds. The farm also offered an educational tour where they told us everything about Ostriches (and probably more than we ever wanted to know anyway.)
We concluded the tour by watching local jockeys performing a short Ostrich race of maybe 100 meters or so. That was hilarious fun (and did not hurt the animals.)
And seriously, aren’t the eyelashes on the picture simply beautiful?!
