The story behind the image
South Africa has a long coastline with fantastic beaches. This is Kings Beach in Summerstrand near Port Elizabeth (which has been renamed to Gqeberha) which can be seen in the back. Summerstrand is a beach holiday destination but thanks to its proximity to Port Elizabeth, it is also home to those who commute to work in P.E.
This image works very well for traditional 3:2 formats as well as for formats cropped as panoramas. In any event, the image triggers the desire to inspect the rocks and beach closer.
By the way, we stayed at the Tiran Cottages which have been renamed to Bayside Guesthouse, and we enjoyed our stay a lot. Back in 2004, we rated it as ‘four star’ accommodation.
