The story behind the image
In the early morning it happened: I woke up, for no special reason, and I noticed that it was still rather dark. But the sun would rise soon. I felt refreshed and grabbed my tripod and the camera bag quietly and got on the patio of our room at The Old Cape Road Guest House (now Phoenix Lodge and Waterside Accommodation.) This photo shows how beautifully the Blue Hour – the period before the sun actually rises over the horizon – illuminated the Knysna Lagoon. The water was extremely calm and reflected the light perfectly. The silence of the early morning combined with this view was overwhelming and deeply satisfying.
By the way, I published the image of the sunrise over Knysna already in 2021.
Unmissable.
