The story behind the image

The Canadian Rocky Mountains are awesome. Any nature photographer will find countless beautiful locations that are worth being captured on film (or on digital.) The National Parks are full of visual miracles. But they are full of tourists, too, which is why you need to get up early to get some decent shots without folks walking, swimming, or canoeing through the image.

And so we got up early to visit Lake Louise, and as expected, there were just very few tourists around. Even better: there were still no canoes on the lake. And there was no wind! So I had the opportunity to capture the beautiful reflection of Mount Victoria in the surface of Lake Louise. It was just about the perfect time, because as soon as I had captured my photo, the first canoes were exploring the lake!

We then did a short hike up the hills on the left-hand side. But after a while we realized that the views were nowhere as good as this one.
