The story behind the image
Port Hardy at the northern tip of Vancouver Island in British Columbia is the (self-acclaimed) capital of fishing, logging, and mining! It is also the gate towards the islands and northern regions of B.C. as it has a busy ferry harbour.
We arrived in the afternoon and explored the city center with its beautiful Hardy Bay, which invites for short walks and a rest in the sun.
At Granville Street we discovered the historic Seagate Pier where the vessel Curve of Time rested. Built in 1959, she has a long history. At the time of writing the vessel can be booked for exciting nature adventures along the pacific west coast. (Rates are not for the faint hearted, but they do offer discounted trips.)
The afternoon sunlight was beautiful, and the air was very clear, thanks to a strong western wind blowing. Early in the next morning we were booked on the the ferry towards Bella Coola on the mainland – far away from anywhere.
