The story behind the image
The island of Mallorca in Spain is much more than beaches and drinks. It is extremely beautiful and holds many beautiful sights for the traveller and photographer. Here’s a wonderful example from the North-West where steep cliffs meet the Mediterranean Sea. You can easily spend a full day exploring this area.
One of the must-sees is the small village of Sa Calobra, and the major attraction is the “getting there”. You take the road from Ma-2141 – the only road – from Cols deis Reis and get down to sea level, from almost 700 m.
There may be moments where you question yourself whether it was the right decision to take this road. Don’t worry! Towards Sa Calobra you will be greeted with this breathtaking view of Cala de Sa Calobra. There are plenty of parking lots down in the village, a few hotels and restaurants, a tiny port, and a tunneled path that leads to a secluded beach.
I’d love to experience what happens in the evening, once the day tourists are gone. My expectation is that it is one of the best places on the island – very peaceful and quiet.
