The story behind the image
Tuscany keeps on being a very popular destination for tourists from all over the world, and it’s easy to see why: Where else do you get so much culture, history, and unspoilt landscapes, on such a confined space? Heck, Tuscany even has beaches (on the Italian west coast)!
During our long road trip through Italy in 2000, we stayed for a night in Castellina in Chianti before heading towards Pienza, our next destination. Enroute we visited the tourist magnet San Gimignano and the beautiful historic town Colle di Val d’Elsa. Here, we visited Colle Alta, the oldest quarter of the town, situated on top of a hill.
This shot shows the Piazza del Duomo with the Concattedrale dei Santi Alberto e Marziale which dates back to 1603.
