The story behind the image
We re-visited Dublin in August 2003 as part of a long weekend trip and realized that Dublin had changed a lot between 1999 (our first visit) and 2003. One example is the George’s Quay Building overlooking the River Liffey which had been completed in 2002.
Our hotel was a bit further down the road on the opposite side of the Liffey. When we walked towards the city center I found a position that would highlight the pyramid-like design of the building.
It’s an unusual sight, even today, with the tip of the building in the center, and the roofs of its smaller neighbors pointing towards the edges. I walked a few steps back to add the historic street lamps to the frame which provide a weird contrast to the geometrical architecture in the back.
