The story behind the image
Here is a nice shot showing the dunes of Praia de Alvor on a sunny day with a clear blue sky. In 1988, we experienced the place as one giant beautiful beach with natural dunes that protected the village and lagoon from the forces of the Atlantic Ocean.
Clean and flawless with the grass adding complexity, this photo can be a nice poster print if you want to add some beach flair to your appartment.
By the way, the dunes look very similar today thanks to the efforts of the community that added solid boardwalks to guide visitors safely over the dunes without damaging the sensitve environment.
I personally like the idea that there are beautiful spots that do not change significantly over a period of more than three decades. (The Alvor Lagoon is a different matter. It has changed significantly, and I think – not for good.)
