The story behind the image
Back in 1989 I wrote a (cheessy) story that explored modern art in the public space in Kiel at the time, focusing on sculptures and monuments. Back then I was a critic (along with many other people, if I remember the controversal public discussions correctly) because many of these artworks were ‘just ugly’ in my view (back then.)
However, as I prepared the photos for that blog post, I also re-examined the various pieces and changed my mind. Some of them were pretty cool, actually. Like this temporary installation on the greens next to the parliament of Schleswig-Holstein.
I recognize the triangles as sails, and I like the straight lines that contrast well with the rugged rocks. The installation has been removed between 1989 and 2024 (what a surprise!), and I could not find out more about it, sadly.
