The story behind the image
I found this very old shot in the archive, and it triggered some nice memories. From 1986 to 1988 I had been working as part of the civil service at the Malteser Hilfsdienst in Kiel in Germany. My ultimate goal was to become a rescue officer and first responder for them, but before I could start the education for this, I drove disadvantaged children to school and back. We also did excursions with the kids and their teachers.
In 1987 the teachers had requested a transfer service for an excursion to the waterfront in Kiel. When I had dropped off the teacher and kids I realized the beauty of the scene. It was a cold morning, but the sun was still low above the horizon and created a warm orange glow.
Fortunately, I had brought my camera and could capture the Ford Transit bus.
