The story behind the image

I guess that the view from Calton Hill in Edinburgh, Scotland, must be beautiful on a sunny day. But when we were visiting the city in the summer of 2005, it seemed to rain for hours. We waited in Cafés. We visited galleries and museums. But the rain would not stop. We soon found out that the combination of rain and wind made umbrellas pretty useless!

Despite the heavy rain, we walked up to Calton Hill to enjoy the view. And sadly, there was no view to speak of. Please note the faint clock tower of the Balmoral Hotel, and the fact that the street light is switched on!

At least, we made a fun shot with Petra hiding under her umbrella which showed the word SPLASH in large letters. Yeah, Edinburgh was a splashing experience for us.
