The story behind the image
Lisbon in Portugal is an exciting destination that has a long history, a rich culture and many attractive spots, be it the fortress that overtowers the city center, the super-sized Jesus statue, or the many restaurants with their Fado singers.
During my long trip to Portugal I visited Lisbon in 1988 and also took the tram to the Padrão dos Descobrimentos (the Monument of Discoveries.) The sun was illuminating the monument and the clear blue sky created a harsh contrast. I stepped down the quay wall a bit to include the Torre de Belém in the back.
