The story behind the image
The visitors from overseas wanted to see Neuschwanstein Castle in Bavaria. We pointed out that the weather was less than perfect – cloudy with the risk of some rain. But they insisted, and so we drove all the way from Munich to Schwangau in the morning to be ahead of the masses that come every single day of the year. We parked the car at the foot of the mountain and did the (slightly exhausting) hike up to the castle. We took an impressive guided tour of the interior – which revealed many weird details about King Ludwig II of Bavaria.
After the tour we hiked a bit further up to the Marienbrücke, the must-see for anyone visiting the castle. You will be able to enjoy the iconic view of the castle as shown in one of my photos.
