The story behind the image
If you have not noticed by now – we’re attracted by maritime settings. I grew up at the seaside, and I love the fresh and tasty air, the (sometimes) strong wind, the calls of the seagulls, and the constant activity on the water and at the harbour.
When we travelled to Ireland in 1999, we also took a sidetrip to Howth, about 30 minutes outside of Dublin. It’s a working harbour that has everything you’d expect from a genuine harbour: fish shops, boats and ships, pubs and restaurants, and panorama hikes along the seaside. And, of course, lots of photo opportunities.
Just like these two old trawler motor fishing vessels – the Massena and the Guide Us – that were resting at the harbour pier. I love the rusty details that underline that these boats are just tools for the fishermen (instead of objects of beauty.)
Nice.
