The story behind the image
Here’s another picture from a trip to Kopenhagen in Denmark in February 2005. It was February and very cold, just around the freezing point. Despite this, we visited the key attractions, and one of these was certainly Nyhavn, the historic harbour of the city. The name literally means the “new harbour”, but that’s from former times, when the harbour was actually new. Today it’s home to old ships, and a beautiful sight whatever the weather is. There are pubs and restaurants on either side, and in summer the place is very busy.
We walked along the harbour in the cold. Some of the ships were covered to protect them against rain and snow, and there were just very few tourists around. Yet, the buildings signalled a certain coziness, and we could envision how busy it must have been in its heydays.
We decided to come back one day, during summertime. 🙂
