The story behind the image
Southern Bavaria is home to countless lakes large and small especially near the Alps. The Kochelsee is one of those perfect year-round destinations. In the summer, the lake invites for a nice swim. At other times you can do nice long walks and enjoy the fresh air.
This is what we did on a sunny winter day in 1999. We drove to the northern tip of the lake and walked for a while along the eastern shoreline before returning to the main village, Kochel am See. The panorama was splendid, and while there was no snow at all, it was a pleasant experience.
