The story behind the image
Christmas 1967. I was two years old. And of course I cannot remember this specific moment. If you’d ask my mother, the main gift for me was the bathrobe. However, I was more into sweets. Apparently, I also received a small booklet, probably with an illustrated story. I think it’s a funny image, because the way I hold the booklet resembles modern smartphones.
Money was tight, as my parents were still settling into their careers. So there were not many gifts and the tree was so small it had to stand on a small table. Also noteworthy is the use of real candles as there were no electrical candles available. Well, those were the times.
Merry Christmas.
