The story behind the image

Alsace in France has several beautiful historic towns, and one of these is Colmar. We visited the old town with its narrow streets and old buildings late in the morning in September.

The river La Lauch flows through the quarter called La Petite Venise (Little Venice), and it’s easy to see why this name is a good match: The houses have been built right next to the river, and the sight indeed resembles Venice in Italy. We enjoyed the view from the bridge at Rue Turenne.

But can you imagine my joy when suddenly – from behind – a small electric boat silently came along with a group of people who apparently did a mini excursion on the river? So I captured an image that resembled Venice even more.

Looking at recent images I see that the location has not changed at all.

Colmar? Well worth a visit!
