The story behind the image
In the summer of 1954 my mother (left) and my aunt traveled to Sweden, to Skalhamn at the west coast. They apparently had a fantastic time – which is no wonder as it was their first trip without parents or nanny! Going abroad! On their way to becoming real teenagers!
Under these circumstances it did not even matter that the area had mostly rocks and was located at the end of the world (at least when . They were at the seaside and could enjoy the sun and go for a swim. Every day.
For this photo they had climbed the nearby rocks and looked towards South-West, across the bay next to their accommodation (Guller’s Summer Cottage) and the islands in the Baltic Sea. Nice.
