The story behind the image
We were enjoying the maritime atmosphere at the conference center Canada Place near the harbour with the constant cries of the seagulls underlining this mood. Then a large seagull landed just a few meters away. It was perfectly illuminated, with the bright white conference center in my back acting as a giant reflector. I had the tele lens mounted already and captured this beauty.
Some may complain and say: “It’s just a seagull!” That’s right. But still, this photo is better than your average seagull photo due to the nice blur in the background and the well belanced exposure. Also, wildlife photography (even if it was “just” a seagull) was way more difficult with film than it is today.
I still like it.
