The story behind the image
The lakes in southern Bavaria are embedded into the northern part of the Alps. Schliersee is a particularly beautiful lake that can provide stunning views even late in the year.
Ten years ago we took the easy hike around the lake and experienced a wonderful pre-winter day. The lake was super calm, and the sunset had been stunning. Now the remaining sunlight faded away, creating a subtle range of orange, yellow and red colors. The tower of the St. Martin church reflected beautifully in the lake, like the entire panorama.
What a sight!
I had just brought the tiny Ricoh CX1, so the resolution is just so-so, but colors and composition make up for this. Also, it should be noted that not a lot of editing has gone into this image – it’s almost straight from the camera.
Very, very nice.
