The story behind the image
It’s an annual routine in Munich: In February all the mighty politicians and their advisors meet in the city center, at the Hotel Bayerischer Hof, to discuss the state of the world’s security. While the politicians talk, protests against these talks take place, usually starting at the Marienplatz next to the town hall.
I was covering the protests but was a bit early, and I had some time on my hands. It was a sunny day, and I realized that I was still missing a decent photo of just the top of Maria’s pole. It looked awesome against the blue sky, so kind and gentle.
A really nice shot.
