The story behind the image
Here’s a beautiful shot from the family archive – my mother Inga poses with my aunt Editha for the photographer at a beach near Heiligenhafen in Germany.
It was a sunny day in 1964, most likely early summer, and apparently the mood was very good. The sun was shining brightly, and the ladies could pose barefooted on a small boat they found on the beach. There are no swimmers to be seen, so it might have been not warm enough to enter the Baltic Sea.
It’s a lovely, flawless photo that shows the two sisters at the age of 21 (Inga) and 22 (Editha) ready to conquer the world.
I love this photo.
