The story behind the image
The Lagoon slightly south of Walvis Bay is home to a large population of Flamingos. The shallow water is somewhat protected from the heavy waves of the Atlantic Ocean that hit the coast relentlessly around the clock.
On a sunny afternoon we took the short drive from Swakopmund to Walvis Bay to experience the Flamingo Lagoon. It was an impressive view to see all the Flamingos dipping their heads into the water to grab some food. The wind was blowing strongly which further created motion on the water.
The 400 mm tele lens make the buildings in the back appear really close, an almost surreal scene to see Flamingos so close to houses and industrial buildings.
Nice.
