The story behind the image
I don’t remember the name of the beach, or the village next to it. But on the way back to our car we noticed a herd of goats, and a few seconds later the goat herder approached us. He took up one of his goats and presented it to us. We were puzzled. Was he asking us to buy it? No, probably not. Then we understood: He wanted us to take a photo of him! We did, and we paid him the equivalent of 5 German Marks in Escudos, a small amount of money for us, but a good side income for him.
I re-discovered this shot in the archive and was amazed by the high quality. I had to perform just very little editing! The light of the late afternoon was gently illuminating the scene, and the colors were spot-on.
Very nice.
Note: On 11/11/23 I realized that the man on the picture is carrying a goat (not a sheep), so I corrected headline, caption, and story, accordingly.
