The story behind the image
When the winter approaches in Central Europe, it is always good to think of a nice beach that you’ve encountered. In 2005, we spent two weeks at the Hotel Aguamarina Golf in Golf del Sur which was close to the airport, making it a good choice for us as we wanted to avoid long transfers between the airport and the hotel. Apparently, the hotel has been sold and/or re-branded since then, and it’s not clear whether it can be still booked for holidays today.
Anyway, the hotel was directly situated at the coastline, close to a tiny harbour, and you could easily access the sea from the hotel. It even had a small private beach with black sand thanks to Tenerife being a vulcanic island. A small paved trail invited for short walks along the seaside.
My photo shows a view from that trail towards east, along the rugged coastline. In the back, La Montaña Roja (‘The Red Mountain’) can be seen, which is part of a special nature reserve. The lack of bright white sand and plants or trees reduces the color set and creates a bizarre impression that adds to the fascination. The strong wind is clearly visible on the surface of the water.
An interesting image that makes me want to return to Tenerife someday.
