The story behind the image
On our way from Liscannor, Co. Clare, to Galyway in Ireland we opted for the N67 which brings you to Lisdoonvarna, Ballyvaughan, Kinvara – and the beautiful Dunguaire Castle which sits right at the shore. A strong wind was blowing, and the sky was full of grey clouds, but we decided to visit the castle and its viewing platform anyway.
The castle dates back the 16th century and was aound 1900 in a really bad shape. Since 1924, it has been continuously restored, though, and today it is in perfect condition and well worth a visit! If you have some spare time, why not stay and enjoy a medieval banquet with fine wines and delicious, locally sourced food?
