The story behind the image
When you visit Switzerland you won’t get away without noticing – and probably visiting – the huge mountains in the Swiss Alps. Close to Bern in the Berner Oberland there are countless opportunities for beautiful summer hikes and trails.
In 2004 we spent a full day for a trip from Bern to the village of Mürren and to the Schilthorn Mountain where the James Bond movie On Her Majesty’s Secret Service had been filmed in 1968 and 1969.
After the arrival at the Mürren BLM train station we found a beautiful mountain village that is as Swiss as it can be. Almost like a large-size replica of a model train landscape. The Staegerstübli on the left has opened its doors in 1901. It is located in the center of the village and is still in business but has received a new signage since 2004. Their homepage has the full story.
It’s nice to see that Mürren – depsite of the masses of tourists flooding the village every day – has been able to preserve some of its coziness and beauty.
