The story behind the image
The other day I shared a 2003 image of the magnificient Mövenpick Resort in El Gouna, Egypt. Here’s another one. It shows the view towards the northern part of the hotel. The buildings on the left belong to the hotel, while the buildings in the back (beyond the little watchtower) are private property.
In this image one can clearly see the heritage of the resort: desert sand. The hotel management has taken a lot of effort to get some green into the sand and keep it successfully green. The turquiose water of the Red Sea is literally around the corner, so when waking up you’ll be greeted by peace and nature. The trees probably have grown over the past two decades, but they are still just tiny patches, not a forest by any means.
