The story behind the image

In 2017 we visited the Baltic Sea for two weeks, concretely the village of Niendorf close to Lübeck in Germany. While it is a small community it has everything you’d expect from a summer destination: a beautiful beach, restaurants, small shops, a supermarket. But it’s not super vibrant and busy like its bigger neighbors, Timmendorfer Strand and Travemünde. In a way, it’s a diamond waiting to be discovered. So, in short – it’s been perfect for us.

One late afternoon we went to the small harbor to get some good fish for dinner, and on our way back we admired the sunset. I put the small EOS M on a nearby pole to steady the camera and avoid camera shake. The result is this very nice image. Of course, with a bigger camera and a better lens it might have been even better, but I don’t mind because the photo captures the peace of the location really well. And this is what counts. To me.

P.S.: The high rise in the back is the Maritim Seehotel Timmendorfer Strand.
