The story behind the image
Lisbon in Portugal is an all-year destination for tourists. Even in December you have mild weather, and you can explore the city without bumping into too many fellow tourists.
This photo shows the R. Domingos Sequeira with two trains of the historical tram line 28E in a sea of cars. Many cars have been parked along the curb of the street, but the trafic is heavy, too.
At the time of writing, the train line 28E is still in service. It passes several attractions of the city and is popular with tourists wanting to explore the city center – and discover the joy of deceleration. The 7 km route takes about an hour from start (at the Martim Moniz monument in the Graça quarter) to finish (at the Praça São João Bosco in the west.)
Looking at recent streetview images, I see that there are significantly fewer parking lots. The newsstand has changed. The trees have further grown and now form almost a roof for the beautiful alley.
