The story behind the image
Lake Ammersee in Bavaria is a valuable destination at all times of the year. On a sunny summer day in 1999 we did a day trip to Herrsching and found the little village full of tourists and day visitors (just like us.)
This image shows the steamboat Diessen as it approaches Herrsching for its scheduled service on the lake. (Wikipedia knows more about the boat, in German.)
The wide aperture of the tele lens puts the focus on the boat while slightly blurring the background. While the original slide has a 3:2 aspect ratio, I applied a 16:9 aspect ratio to achieve a modern wide-screen smartphone look.
