The story behind the image

We had stopped for a night in Hannover as we had tickets for the Hannover Zoo for the next morning. After a long drive from Munich, and tasty pizza at the agorino, it was good to take a walk through the quiet and peaceful Kleefeld quarter (literally, the clover field quarter) which consists of countless appartment blocks and many small shops. There was surprisingly little traffic – most of the cars had found their parking lot for the night already.

Near the Schweriner Platz I noticed the yellow footprints and a bold yellow line that had been sprayed on the curb. I guess the intention is to remind the kids of the quarter and nearby school to stop at the curb and look left and right before crossing the street.

However, the footprints where too large for kids and could apply to grown ups as well. And the sign – with its aggressive yellow color and authoritarian meaning – did not really match the quiet and peaceful location.

So I took this photo as a piece of art that inspires you to take you and your mind way beyond your current location.
