The story behind the image
We extensively traveled across Italy in 2000. On our way from the famous Cinque Terre area towards Tuscany we (temporarily) waved good-bye to the Mediterranean Sea between Lerici and Fiascherino where we found this secluded beach which lies about 60 meters below street level.
The morning sun was still low and dipped half of the beach into shadow, but the turquoise water was already an amazing sight. I used my super wide angle lens (17 mm) from high above the beach to capture the beach as well as the surrounding rocks.
Today, the beach is home to the exclusive Eco del Mare Night & Day Beach Club. Certainly, their rates are not for the faint hearted, but if you think about the exclusivity you get, you may possibly change your mind.
