The story behind the image
Why, oh why, didn’t I take the EOS M6 with me on that beautiful evening? The answer is simple: When we began our excursion through Hamburg that morning, the sky was grey and dull. Heck, there was even a bit of rain. Then, over dinner, the sky cleared up, and it became one of the most beautiful evenings you could imagine.
When we left the excellent restaurant (am kai, Große Elbstraße 145c) the sun had set already, and the water from the basin next to the restaurant was gone. Now the mud was showing and reflecting the evening sky. We had a bit of time until our ferry would arrive to bring us back into the city center.
So I took the time for this photo. On the left the Dockland building. You can visit their viewing platform free of charge – but you’ll have to use the stairs! But once you’ve made it, the views across the Elbe are fantastic.
I love the colors and composition, especially the reflections in the Dockland building.
I need to return with a decent camera. 🙂
