The story behind the image
I have been able to obtain yet another beautiful shot by photo pioneer Albert Giesler. It shows the Kleiner Ugleisee (lit. ‘Small Lake Uglei’) near Plön in Germany. The print is dated 1894 in the lower right corner and it is in superb condition, compared to other prints of that period.
I think it is remarkable that this place exists almost unchanged today. The only remarkable change is the name: it’s called Kleiner Ukleisee today (spelled with a ‘k’) today. But it is still a place for getting carried away by dreams.
