The story behind the image
The year 2000 saw us in Italy. We had a brand new car and wanted to explore most of the country on a three week road trip. Our first leg brought us deep into the Italian Alps to the town of Bagolino.
On our way to Bagolino, we passed the Lago di Ledro, and we stopped in Molino di Ledro to take a walk along the lake promenade of the village. While the lake is not large by any means, it is large enough for beach activities and even sailing.
I really liked the way the afternoon sun illuminated the lake and surrounding mountains from the side, and especially the fact that the sky is not visible in the frame. The building – the Casa di Ledro Daldoss – sits prominently between the SS240 and the lake. It is home to several holiday appartments and even has a small private ‘beach’ (which is more a bath platform, however.)
A beautiful spot for sure.
