The story behind the image
Inveraray Castle is a beautiful building with its very own, very special and very dark story: One of the Dukes of Argyll tore down the building and the whole village of Inveraray in 1744, because he didn’t like its look any longer. He rebuilt castle and gardens, and decided to build up the village as well – just about 1 km away from its previous location. It still belongs to the Campbell Clan and can be visited.
Of course, this image is far from perfect in terms of light, but what can you do if you’re in the area and there’s no blue sky in sight, anywhere? Plus, I thought (and still think) that the dark grey clouds actually match the dark history of the castle, so I opted for publishing this photo.
