The story behind the image
This photo from a business trip to London in 2000 shows the view from Coventry Street into Haymarket at night. I did not have a tripod with me, so I used a long exposure time and the self timer function to get the camera as steady as possible. The aperture of f/8 ensured that the street lights would create the lovely star shapes.
The area has changed a bit over the past 23 years. The Virgin Store has moved out long ago, and now it’s a Café. The fence on the left has gone as well. Apparently the city has come to the conclusion that pedestrians do not have to be protected from drivers in the city center any longer.
