The story behind the image
This photo from a business trip to London in 2000 shows Wardour Street in the city center. It’s not a normal street – it belongs to the quarter known as Chinatown in London. Just a few steps enabled me to enter a whole new world, and at night countless neon lights were promoting Chinese restaurants and services of all kind. While London is already a buzzing city, Chinatown seemed to be even more busy.
While we stayed in London, we visited Chinatown twice: once for a high-end restaurant with a seven course Chinese dinner, and once for a traditional restaurant with affordable prices (and just one course.) I liked both experiences, but have to admit that I liked the traditional one even more. It was packed with average people (many of them with Asian heritage), and the duck was delicious. Probably the best one I ever had, anywhere.
