The story behind the image
We had arrived earlier that day on Vancouver Island, with the ferry from Tsawwassen, and were excited to be on our dream island (of 2002.) The air was mild and had that specific maritime smell. The sun was shining. We had a lot of time to spend on our short way from the Swartz Bay ferry terminal to our B&B for the next two nights in Victoria.
And so we took our time to drive slowly along the coastline, stopping frequently to enjoy the views of the sea, step out and take photos.
Near Cadboro Bay we left the main road – the Cadboro Bay Road – and entered the Beach Drive to stay as close to the shoreline as possible. We passed countless beautiful houses with perfectly manicured gardens and greens, but we could just assume that the water was close as we never had a free view. Then we took our chance and entered Scenic Drive (near the War Memorial), hoping for some stunning views.
We did not get disappointed. We parked the car next to the Cattle Point Boat Ramp and took a walk along the rocks of Cattle Point, a place of beauty and peace.
Lovely.
