The story behind the image

When you visit Switzerland you won’t get away without noticing – and probably visiting – the huge mountains in the Swiss Alps. Close to Bern in the Berner Oberland there are countless opportunities for beautiful summer hikes and trails.

In 2004 we spent a full day for a trip from Bern to the village of Mürren and to the Schilthorn Mountain where the James Bond movie On Her Majesty’s Secret Service had been filmed in 1968 and 1969.

After the arrival at the Mürren BLM train station we were greeted by this stunning view. Since 2004, the house on the left has been extended with a balcony on the top level and some antlers right under the roof, next to the single tiny window.

It’s nice to see that Mürren – depsite of the masses of tourists flooding the village every day – has been able to preserve some of its coziness and beauty. At least for photographers it’s an eye feast.

In my image I adore the clear and saturated colors, the nice contrast and the snow covered peaks of the mountains.

Just wow.
