The story behind the image
Recently I shared an image showing the Château de l’Ortenbourg in Alsace as it can be seen from the D35 north of Scherwiler. It sits high above the valley with its countless vineyards. The small D35 is also known as the Route du Vin (Wine Road), and you will find good restaurants in the towns along the way. Expect tasty local food with matching wines, everywhere.
The castle, by the way, is just a ruin today, and we hiked all the way up. Depite being a ruin, it’s still impressive and well worth a visit, and we enjoyed stunning views across the beautiful landscape.
