The story behind the image
During our holistic trip to the island of Mallorca in Spain we also explored the regions that are not directly located at the seaside and (sadly) often get passed by tourists.
One of these rather sleepy towns is Felanitx in the South-West. Some claim that Christopher Columbus was born here (but there seems to be a heavy debate over this.) Then there’s the historic church of Sant Miquel de Felanitx with many very wide stairs – an interesting sight that inspires for interesting photos. About 7 km outside of Felanitx you’ll find the beautiful fortress Castell de Santueri that sits high above the plains and provides stunning views.
This photo shows the Plaça Espanya during the midday heat when most people simply have their Siesta or are at the beach. Just a few tourists sit in the outside area of the café Ca N’Usola and enjoy the shadow provided by the large umbrellas.
