The story behind the image
I’m always looking for images that are typical for a place or region, ideally without entering into Kitsch which is clearly a risk.
Certaldo near Florence turned out to be a perfect place for photos showing traditional Italy with a bit of Glitz. We took the cable car to Upper Certaldo, and it was still relatively early, so there were very few tourists around. At the Piazza SS. Annunziata I spotted this beautiful brick wall, all red and yellow. The sun was casting nice shadows, giving structure to the wall which had seen better times for sure. A single window had the blinders closed to protect against the upcoming heat, but the flowers in front of that window added a genuine eye catcher.
Lovely.
