The story behind the image
On our last night in Vancouver, B.C., we walked to Sunset Beach to watch the the grand finale of the Vancouver Celebration of Light Fireworks series in 2002. I brought the camera but not the tripod. To avoid camera shake I placed the camera on a large rock and used the wired remote trigger (purely analog btw) which required a bit of guessing the right moment. Since I did not want to pull through a whole film with 36 images, the shooting went just half-heartedly and after a few shots I ceased shooting and enjoyed the rest of the fireworks with Petra. What a wonderful night this was!
This was one of the best shots (of the few) and I tend to like it, but I know that with decent planning and preparation I could have done much better.
