The story behind the image
When exploring the magnificient Lago Maggiore in the Alps, you will almost certainly visit the city of Ascona. It is situated on the Swiss side of the lake and combines the best of both worlds: you get Swiss reliability and Italian lifestyle. Even better: Ascona has a (small) public beach that provides access to the lake.
I took this photo from the Piazza Giuseppe Motta (aka Lungolago), and I really like it as it captures the beauty of the lake, the unspoilt nature and the unique feeling of summer. The star shaped sun that sits between the leafs of the tree is a very nice bonus as it underlines the lightheartedness of the season.
Ascona – the perfect place to be.
