The story behind the image
We had arrived earlier that day on Vancouver Island, with the ferry from Tsawwassen. We were excited to be on this island that came close to our dreams, in 2002. The air was mild and had that specific maritime smell. The sun was shining. We had a lot of time to spend on our (short) way from the Swartz Bay ferry terminal to our B&B for the next two nights, in Victoria.
And so we took our time to drive slowly along the coastline, stopping frequently to enjoy the views of the sea, step out and take photos.
This is Cadboro Bay with its popular beach. Its proximity to Victoria makes it the perfect destination for locals during the weekend. We walked along the beach on a Thursday in the early afternoon, and it was far from busy. Just a few sun-seekers, and one sailor. I really liked his boat with its bright sails that provide a colorful highlight in the image that is dominated by blue and green colors.
Lovely.
