The story behind the image
We extensively traveled across Italy in 2000. When we explored Tuscany and Umbria in the center of the country, we saw countless beautiful views. The gentle hills and curvy roads are perfect for getting to know the area as it does not invite for speeding along the highway. Rather, you have to be quite careful and slow. This allows you to enjoy the landscape and find attractive images.
I spotted this destroyed farm house somewhere in Umbria. The late afternoon sunlight illuminated the building perfectly and created long shadows already. A wide open aperture allowed me to focus on the building and slightly blur the hills in the back.
If only I remembered where this was, exactly…
